Dr Matt Cunliffe is a chartered sport psychologist, boxing coach and Muay Thai fighter specialising in the psychology of combat performance. He has worked with amateur and elite athletes to build confidence, control fear and perform under pressure. As psychologist to the Amateur Boxing Alliance and a coach embedded in fight sport, his approach blends evidence-based performance psychology with real ring experience, giving fighters practical mental tools that transfer directly to training and competition.
His work focuses on the mental skills that decide fights: emotional control under fire, composure in exchanges, confidence after mistakes and the ability to execute under fatigue and threat. Drawing on cognitive-behavioural performance psychology and years inside combat sport, he translates elite mindset science into simple, fight-specific systems coaches and athletes can apply immediately in sparring and competition.
